General And Preventative Dentistry

Why Choose Berwyn Family Dentistry For Your General & Preventative Dentistry Needs:

Preventive care saves time, money, and hassle in the long run. It all starts with educating the patient about the best daily dental practices. As a solo practitioner and owner Dr. B. has the luxury of spending as much time as needed with patients to get to know them and build trust and a level of comfort. She demonstrates the best home care techniques and goes over a thorough dental/medical history with new patients. Individualized treatments are the focus, and every step is customized to our patients’ needs.

Routine Check-Ups and Preventative Dentistry

During a twice-yearly check-up, teeth are professionally cleaned and polished, diagnostics such as X-rays and dental health scans are taken, and any necessary treatment recommendations are made.

Cleanings & Check-ups

Removing plaque and tartar is integral to avoid decay and periodontitis while protecting the integrity and long-term health of teeth and gums. We recommend you visit us every six months for a routine dental cleaning and exam. More frequent visits may be suggested if needed, and we also encourage you to contact us if you suffer from a dental emergency, pain, or injury. To schedule your next appointment, we invite you to contact us today. We look forward to caring for your smile!

Pediatric Cleanings and Check-ups

It is important that your child receives regular dental care from an early age. Dr. B. suggests children begin visiting the dentist regularly at the age of two. This allows her to monitor a child’s oral growth and development and provide any early treatments to prevent future problems. And by visiting the dentist early in life, your child can develop good oral hygiene habits and may be less afraid to visit the dentist going forward. We encourage you to bring your child to our dental office every six months for a regular dental exam and cleaning. During this visit, we will gently clean your child’s teeth and check for signs of dental problems, such as tooth decay. Each member of our dental team is caring and gentle, and we are certain to put your child at ease. We understand that it’s important to build a positive, trusting relationship between your child and the dentist at a young age, and we are dedicated to ensuring that your child feels comfortable and safe at our office.

Digital X-rays

We utilize digital X-rays to further evaluate your smile and make certain that you receive the appropriate dental care you need. Dental X-rays are used to diagnose diseases affecting the teeth and the bones since the inside of these structures is not seen when dentists look in your mouth. They provide important information to help plan the appropriate dental treatment. They may be used to identify: Number, size, and position of the teeth. The more precise the diagnostics, the better the treatment outcomes.

Emergency Check-Up

Accidents and emergencies happen and we are here to help you through them. If an emergency arises, please call our 24-hour emergency line for immediate assistance.

What qualifies as an emergency?

If your tooth is accidentally cracked, broken or knocked out, or if you experience sudden pain, swelling or bleeding. You shouldn’t wait to treat an emergency dental situation, as they can turn serious quickly.

Periodontal Disease Therapy

Gum disease, also called periodontal disease, is a degenerative condition caused by bacteria found in plaque. The gums become infected and inflamed and if left untreated can cause them to pull away from teeth and result in bone loss and tooth loss, as well as health conditions such as heart disease and strokes. Signs of gum disease are swelling, redness, tenderness or if the gums bleed easily. Other symptoms are loose teeth, painful chewing, persistent bad breath, and receding gums that make your teeth appear longer than normal.

Dr. B. will look for gum disease at every check-up. Depending on its severity, she may recommend scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) to address it. In more severe cases or for localized therapy, she may also recommend placing an antibiotic called Arestin into the infected pockets of the gums to heal infection.

Custom Night Guards & Sports Guards

Customization is a game-changer! There’s a significant difference between guards you buy at a store and those that are professionally custom fit to your teeth/bite. Whether to protect your teeth while playing sports or for those who grind their teeth at night (bruxism), Our Team takes a digital scan of your teeth for the best level of protection.
